The most general definition of IVF treatment involves the fertilization of mature oocyte cells retrieved from the candidate mother and the sperm cells obtained from the candidate father, in carefully prepared lab environment using the classical method (IVF) or microinjection (ICSI), and transfer of the healthiest fertilized embryo to the mother’s uterus.

 Pregnancy obtained from a certain number of embryos selected and placed in the uterus progresses in the same course as the pregnancy achieved by normal means.

The difference between natural pregnancy and assisted reproductive therapy is the achievement of fertilization in laboratories with appropriate conditions.
